Fenton Art Glass Burmese Vase - Memorial Tribute to Frank Fenton

The spectacular Nautilus Vase in Burmese glass is our memorial tribute to Frank M. Fenton. His enthusiasm for art glass fueled chemist Charlie Goe's re-creation of the historic Burmese color, and his vision led us to purchase this original Cambridge mould in the mid-1980s from Imperial Glass. Frank also enjoyed seashell decorative motifs, and Stacy Williams has re-interpreted a motif created two decades ago when Frank encouraged Dianna Barbour to design a seashell theme on Burmese glass. Fenton Hand Painted Favrene Glass Temple Jar & Covered Box

As with many handmade glasses, Fenton's Favrene is not a recent invention. The challenges involved in creating Favrene glass limits the production numbers... adding to the rarity and collectibility of this very special glass. The Favrene batch contains Cobalt and precious metals, such as silver. This batch must be worked under exacting conditions of both heat and oxygen to coax out the silvery color. Once the base color is established, the piece is then sprayed with stannous chloride to create the nuances of color on the glass. Variations of iridescence ranging from gold to silver to blue result from this spray. Another trip to the flame creates the permanent satin finish, and our talented craftsmen use their reheating skills in this process. We love the two new pieces in Fenton's Favrene glass, this Covered Box and matching Temple Jar have just arrived. You can get more information by clicking here or by visiting our website.

Fenton Hand Painted Carnival Glass Ruffled Shade Lamp

When Fenton resumed production of their iridescent glass in 1970, they decided to call it "Carnival glass'' and have done so ever since. The secret of Fenton Carnival glass is the special spray of metallic salts on the glass while it is very hot. We never cease to marvel at the rainbow of colors and the interesting hues. This 17'' Carnival Glass Ruffled Shade Lamp features a lovely floral design. Each Fenton lamp is mouth blown by a skilled craftsman in the 100-year old Fenton factory. Decorated shades are handpainted by talented Fenton artists who proudly sign each completed piece. You can see larger photos by clicking here or visiting our website.
