Fenton Hand Painted Favrene Glass Temple Jar & Covered Box

As with many handmade glasses, Fenton's Favrene is not a recent invention. The challenges involved in creating Favrene glass limits the production numbers... adding to the rarity and collectibility of this very special glass. The Favrene batch contains Cobalt and precious metals, such as silver. This batch must be worked under exacting conditions of both heat and oxygen to coax out the silvery color. Once the base color is established, the piece is then sprayed with stannous chloride to create the nuances of color on the glass. Variations of iridescence ranging from gold to silver to blue result from this spray. Another trip to the flame creates the permanent satin finish, and our talented craftsmen use their reheating skills in this process. We love the two new pieces in Fenton's Favrene glass, this Covered Box and matching Temple Jar have just arrived. You can get more information by clicking here or by visiting our website.
